The selection of Natural Stone

You chose the stone, now you must choose the finish. The finish creates a specific type of atmosphere no matter if it’s floors, countertops, walls or surfaces. The decision is mostly personal preference. The architectural features & decor can also influence the choice.

The most popular choice is Polished. It adds luxury to the space and is beautiful to the eye. The appearance is like glass which is elegant with a shine and bright look. However, it isn’t recommended in high traffic areas. Unfortunately, every mark on the stone will be highly visible.

Honed finish is less reflected and a softer look. It’s laid back tone will have a little sheen but less scratches and marks. This choice will suit more casual living yet still retain elegance.

Custom finishes include a little of both polished and honed or tumbled, flamed and anti-slip that can be done by acid, buffing and heat.

The finish you choose is based on taste not strength or durability of the natural stone.
